So far you've summed up theyear in one word, admitted your vices, touted your virtues, revealed yoursuperpower, and let us in on your theme song, but no superhero does it alone...
Who is the Thelma to yourLouise? Who is your partner in crime? Did you reacquaint yourself with an oldfriend? Did you make a new friend? Or, perhaps, you are a lone ranger?
Take some time today to lookback on how you spent your year and give a shout out to anyone that helped tomake it special. If you don't have any close friends that fit the bill, thinkabout who you spend your time with on a regular basis, who is the bright spotin your day? Maybe you joke around with a coworker just to get through the day.Maybe the barista who serves your coffee knows your order by heart and/or knowswhen to suggest you mix it up. Who makes your life just a little bit betterjust by being themselves?
I have two Thelmas, one is a friend who has been there for years, but we were never as close as we are now. Having a shared battle has brought us even closer together. Our lives at one time seemed polar opposites, but now they seem to run in parallel, although I seem slightly further along my particular road than she does. A day will come I am certain where she will be forced to face similar choices to myself and might too have to accept the fact that a whole move and change of life and perspective will be required, and when that time comes I wish her every good wish on her journey.
The other Thelma is my daughter. We are so close now, not that we weren't before, but now we just get along. Even when we are both tired, or stressed out, we find a way to cope without finding the need to take it out on the other. Life used to be so tense before, but it is not now. I remember telling someone that the atmosphere in the house used to be dark and crunchy, now it feels light and you can almost feel the energy flowing.
